73% Marathi Girls and Guys Search for a Life Partner on Their Own: Research Report by MarathiMatrimony

MarathiMatrimony, the leading matchmaking service for Marathis, from BharatMatrimony, studied the demographic patterns of over 2.5 lakh registered users. The data revealed fascinating insights on Maharashtrians and their partner preferences while choosing to get married.

l  The user base comprised of 28% women and 72% men
l  Individuals are increasingly taking marriage decisions into their own hands as is evident from the fact that 73% of the matrimony profiles are created by the individuals themselves, with only about 9% created by parents and the rest by siblings and others
l  51% percent of women who are seeking a life partner are between the ages of 23-27, while 48% percent of men are in the age group of 26-30
l  Interestingly 27% women and 28% men were open to looking for a partner outside their caste
l  52% of the members were open to seeking life partners living overseas, of which USA, Canada and Australia were among the preferred countries
l  In terms of educational qualification, the most popular stream of education was Arts for 52% of women and 43% of men, followed by Technology
l  30% of the women and 14% of the men are looking for life partners whose education qualification is Masters or above
l  The top professions for men were “Business Owners/Entrepreneurs”, followed bySoftware professionals and Engineers. Among women registrants, it was Software Professionals followed by “academicians”
l  The top five cities within Maharashtra that witnessed a maximum number of registrations are Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nasik and Nagpur. For Marathis living outside the state, the top cities with the highest number of registrations are Bengaluru, Goa, Belgaum and Hyderabad
l  In tune with the mobile and internet trends, 86% of the entire user base did their life partner search on the mobile
